Master Jean-Pierre Taiun Faure
Born in 1945, doctor of physics, father of three children, he began practising zazen in 1977 and was ordained as a monk by Master Deshimaru in 1981. Since then, he has practised zazen every day.
He created the Marrakech dojo in 1979 and then, on his return to France, became head of the Toulon dojo from 1986 to 1997. He held the position of tenzo at the Gendronnière for several years before becoming head of the Gendronnière temple from 1997 to 2002. During this period, he oversaw the ecological construction of the ‘petit dojo’.
In 2002, with the help of his disciples, he created the Kanshoji Zen monastery in the Dordogne, near Limoges. He is now its abbot.
He has made several trips to Japan, becoming a disciple of Donin Minamizawa Roshi, vice-zenji of the Eihei-ji temple (Japan), from whom he received the transmission of the Dharma in 2003. He is a kyoshi (certified teacher) of the Sôtô school.
From August 2015 to August 2017, he was abbot of the Gendronnière temple.
